Webulator/400 Version 2.0 PTFs

Program Temporary Fixes (PTFs) for Webulator/400 v2.0

General information about Program Temporary Fixes can be found at the links below:

The PTFs listed below address several Webulator/400 v2.0 issues including the following:

The WBL200001 PTF

The WBL200001 PTF fixes the following problem:

  1. Sets the IP address that was used on the initial Webulator request inside a temporary browser cookie. This cookie value is then used if subsequent requests get routed through a different proxy server than the original request. This will stop some users from getting the Invalid IP address error when accessing a Webulator session.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200003.

NOTE: This PTF has been integrated into the Webulator/400 2.0A product.

The WBL200004 PTF

The WBL200004 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixed a potential SSL security exposure where, in theory, a hacker could possibly decrypt a single SSL session's data if the hacker saved a session's data and then made approximately 1 million probes to the server to generate information needed to decrypt the session's data. This attack would have to be repeated to decrypt another SSL session's data. Also note, this attack does not compromise the server's private key. For more information, please reference RSA's Web site.
  2. Fixes a problem where a request processor could get stuck in a TIMW status if a user canceled a request when the client and the server where in the middle of SSL handshaking.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200022.

NOTE: This PTF has been integrated into the Webulator/400 2.0A product.

The WBL200005 PTF

The WBL200005 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes a configuration problem with the SFLSCROLL parameter in the CHGWBLSSN command. This corrects an error resulting in only one of the selections being added to the configuration file when both *SUBFILE and *MSGLINE are selected on the command.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200019.

NOTE: This PTF has been integrated into the Webulator/400 2.0A product.

  1. Fixed problem with popup window overlaying a portion of a double byte output field.
  2. Fixes display problem with error messages when displaying overlay screens.
  3. Fixed array index problem when validating form data.
  4. Fixes timing problem when multiple requests came in from the browser for the same Webulator session. Depending on the timing of the requests and the size of the screen, data queue corruption was possible.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200009.

NOTE: This PTF has been integrated into the Webulator/400 2.0A product.

The WBL200007 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Domestic (U.S. and Canadian customers) version only fix
Fixed a problem where an export (40-bit) browser could not access a domestic server using SSL. Known browsers encountering this problem are the export versions of Netscape Communicator 4.5 and Netscape Communicator 4.06. The browser would receive the following error when trying to access the server: "Netscape has encountered bad data from the server".
  2. Fixes a problem where a POST request that does not contain any request data (posted data) would receive a Network Error browser message instead of the expected script output.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200022.

NOTE: This PTF has been integrated into the Webulator/400 2.0A product.

This PTF will is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

As of January 1, 2000 Verisign will be changing the format of the certificates they issue. They will be issuing version 3 certificates instead of the current version 1 certificates. This PTF contains a new SSL implementation that supports version 3 certificates.

This PTF will also allow for the support or additional certificate authorities including, but not limited to AT&T, GTE, Keywitnes, Thawte, and USPS.

With this PTF you will be able to replace the certificate in a keylist file with a different one.

This PTF must be applied before you run the CRTWBLKEY command to start the process to request a new certificate.

It is recommended that all customers install this PTF.

As this is a new implementation of SSL there are a few parameters that will be ignored in the Webulator/400 commands.

CommandParameterDescription
CRTWBLKEYFORMATOnly *PKCS10 requests are generated
WEEKSThis value is not placed in the request
ADDWBLROOTFORMATOnly *PKCS10 requests are imported

The format of the generated keylist file has changed. Along with the keylist file two additional files are generated. They have the same name as the keylist file, but have the extensions of CER and KEY and are created in the same directory as the keylist file. These three files must be copied, moved, and backed up as a set.

This PTF requires that PTF WBL200021 be installed.

NOTE: The links below contain the exportable version of this PTF, which supports 56-bit encryption. If you are a domestic user wishing to incorporate full 128-bit encryption, you may obtain the domestic version by contacting I/NET support.

The WBL200026 PTF superceeds the WBL200023 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200026).

The WBL200026 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. The WBL200026 PTF contains code changes that eliminate certain javascript put in place for keyboard plugin functionality with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.x. The replacement of this javascript with other logic fixes a problem with user defined footers being ignored by IE 5.x browsers. As a result, inclusion of footer file/URL information in the configuration for a given session should now function normally, and can also include additional user-defined javascript, if desired.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200027.

The WBL200027 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. The WBL200027 PTF contains code changes that correct certain field attribute errors, particularly red with underline.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200028.

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200028 PTF superceeds the WBL200027 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200028).

The WBL200028 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. The WBL200028 PTF contains code changes that correct certain field attribute errors, specifically the inclusion of underline characteristics on the single byte/character where the field attribute would normally be found on the 5250 screen. This originally resulted in an underline on the space just prior to the underlined field. PTF WBL200028 corrects this situation and removes the underline from that pre-character.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200029.

The WBL200029 PTF superceeds the WBL200028 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200029).

The WBL200029 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Microsoft Internet Explorer users have traditionally had trouble with the F1 key when used with the Webulator/400 keyboard plugin. While the AS/400 F1 functionality is performed, the IE help dialog is also shown in a separate window. The WBL200029 PTF contains code changes that include new HTML logic sent to the browser that prevents this from occurring. It over-rides the IE action for F1 so the keyboard plugin functionality is the only process executed for the key. This new functionality works with Internet Explorer versions 4.x, 5.x and 6.x.

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200030 PTF superceeds the WBL200029 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200030).

The WBL200030 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes parsing problems when a drop-down menu is used in the 5250 application. This is denoted by invalid text in the menu pushbuttons that appear across the top of the resulting Webulator screen as well as improper functionality of the pushbuttons that are displayed.
  2. Fixes parsing problems associated with drop-down menus that contain checkbox sub-menus. This corrects resulting MCH0601 errors from the vrAdd5250FieldEntry procedure found in the Request Processor (RP) joblog and the related "Document contains no data" error at the browser.
  3. Fixes/disables improper DBCS upper/lower case conversions when CHGWBLSSN UPTOLOWERC(*YES) is specified in the session configuration.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200032.

The WBL200031 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200031 PTF superceeds the WBL200016 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200031).

The WBL200031 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes a problem when a Webulator session is initialized for a session definition with the "*USEAUTHENTICATION" signon method and the user's password is expired. This situation results in the request being denied as if the user profile and password were not valid. While this result is appropriate for the *USER and *EXITPGM methods, the user who has authenticated themselves with a valid (but expired) name and password should be permitted to sign on and change their password.

NOTE: This PTF has been superceeded by PTF WBL200042.

The WBL200032 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200032 PTF superceeds the WBL200030 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200032).

The WBL200032 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes parsing problems when a subfile end is detected in the 5250 application. This is denoted by the erroneous positioning of the UP ARROW pushbutton on a screen that should not have a PAGEUP subfile option available. This typically appears after pressing a function key to exit from the last/bottom page of a subfile. In addition, the ARROW pushbuttons are now keyed off of local text for "More..." and "Bottom". Webulator previously placed the buttons based on finding the US English characteristics for these variables.
  2. Fixes parsing problems when a protected continuation field is detected in the 5250 application. The situation typically manifests itself when the keywords CNTFLD(nn) and DSPATR(PR) are designated for an input field in the source DDS, and results in the erroneous display of the field as an input-capable text area on the resulting display. The correction changes the field to an output-only method of display.
  3. Fixes reverse image display problems caused by PTF WBL200028 that result in the Reverse Image character never being shown on the screen. The removal of the underline attribute on output fields caused reverse image input fields to not be properly recognized.

The WBL200033 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200033 PTF superceeds the WBL200032 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200033).

The WBL200033 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Adds support for enhanced Javascript keyboard plugin for Netscape 6.x support. This fix provides keyboard support for the Netscape 6.x and Mozilla 0.9.6+ browsers. Webulator/400 users should be aware that there is a history of Netscape/Mozilla issues surrounding the trapping of keys by the browser itself, in addition or instead of permitting Javascript or plugin handling of the key. This behavior is browser dependant and functions as expected with their currently available versions (Netscape 6.02, 6.1, 6.2; Mozilla 0.9.6, 0.9.7). Bug report #96086 has been submitted to Bugzilla and a resolution is currently scheduled for Mozilla version 0.9.9 (which will eventually be included in a future version of Netscape). This resolution will hopefully eliminate the possibility of invalid key behaviors occuring in future browser releases.
SPECIAL NOTE: To enable the alternate keyboard functionality (which causes the PC's CTRL key to act as ENTER), you must include the text "?ALTKEYBOARD=Y" in the query string of the browser request. This might look something like http://www.myas400.com:5061/?ALTKEYBOARD=Y This is particularly useful for the entry of double-byte field data. If alternate keyboard functionality is not desired, additional text is not needed.

The WBL200034 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200034 PTF superceeds the WBL200033 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200034).

The WBL200034 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes parsing problems while attempting to detect parsed button strings within an application window. Some strings are not converted to parsed buttons as they should be. This seems to occur in a DBCS environment where an SOSI combination is found on the line before the column where the parsing is being done. This results in the parsing code thinking that it is in DBCS mode when it should shift back to SBCS search mode.
  2. Fixes parsing problems while attempting to detect parsed button strings when an error message is displayed immediately following an application window. Some strings are not converted to parsed buttons as they should be. This occurs in an environment where the strings to be evaluated are outside the boundaries of the active window that was previously on the screen, resulting in the parsing code thinking that the buttons are still outside the window (which is no longer present) and should not be active.

The WBL200035 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200035 PTF superceeds the WBL200034 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200035).

The WBL200035 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes an input field data overflow problem that may occur when entering too much data into a DBCS-capable field. When entering DBCS data into an alpha-numeric input-capable field, it is sometimes possible to enter too many characters. This results in parsing and truncation problems when the data is submitted to the AS/400 5250 routines, which occasionally also cause a misalignment of Shift-Out and Shift-In characters. Erroneous HTML is returned to the browser (which usually causes a blank screen to be shown to the browser user).

The WBL200036 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200036 PTF superceeds the WBL200021 and WBL200025 PTFs (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200036).

The WBL200036 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes an input/output conversion problem that may occur when DBCS data has been entered into the configuration. Webulator/400 reads and converts the configuration files in segments of 4k buffers. If a DBCS character is found that spans two buffers (the first byte of the character is in the first 4k and the second byte ends up in the second buffer), a conversion error occurs with the resulting errno of 3021. This is also usually seen with a WBL0322 error message in the joblog.

The WBL200037 PTF

This PTF is only supported under OS/400 versions V3R2, V3R7 and above.

The WBL200037 PTF superceeds the WBL200035 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200037).

The WBL200037 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes a field change recognition error when an incoming field is empty and the previous/stored value = "0". If an outgoing alpha-capable field contained only zeros (0) and the user deletes them (causing the incoming field to be empty), the original logic thought the field had not changed. PTF WBL200037 makes the alpha vs. numeric-only distinction and only compares zeros if the field is numeric (basic assumption that a non numeric only field should default to all blanks if it is empty).

The WBL200038 PTF superceeds the WBL200037 PTF (i.e., you do not need to install the superceded PTFs before installing WBL200038).

The WBL200038 PTF fixes the following problems:

  1. Fixes a field change recognition error when an incoming checkbox field is empty. If a check box is originally filled and changed to empty by the user, it is not originally recognized as a field that has been modified. If the empty checkbox is also before all other fields, it is inserted in the wrong spot in the buffer that is passed to the 5250 routines, and the AS/400 does not realize that it changed. This is particularly true if a screen-defined pushbutton or light pen was used to send the screen.
