Authentication Password Storage

The way that user passwords are stored has changed starting with Web Server/400 version 1.3. The Web Server can be configured to use either the new mode or the old mode (for backward compatibility).

Where Mode can be Normalized or Compatible. Normalized mode allows for case-insensitive password matching and is better for users configuring the server with different CCSIDs; it should be used by all new servers. Compatible mode is necessary for servers that contain passwords that were created prior to version 1.3 of Web Server/400. Read about authentication user storage for more information about modes.
